Previous peace proposals remain unacceptable to Kyiv

To reach an agreement on ending the war in Ukraine, it will be necessary to put new ideas on the table for discussion, says US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according toThe Guardian.

He said that the proposals put forward so far were not acceptable to Ukraine in the past and are unacceptable to it now.

Rubio noted that those proposals would likely be even less acceptable now.

“If, when peace comes, it’ll be because of some new idea and some new concepts, and we’re prepared to offer some of those in the right setting and form if the opportunity presents itself and the conditions are right. We’re prepared to play that role in a positive way,” said the US Secretary of State.

A meeting took place today in Manila between the US Secretary of State and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

During the talks, Lavrov once again reiterated Moscow’s demands regarding Ukraine. He called on Western allies to stop supplying weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Bloomberg previously reported that Russian president Vladimir Putin is not prepared to consider returning part of the occupied territories to Ukraine as part of a possible peace agreement to end the war.

Russia may also be preparing provocations under a false flag against NATO members to weaken support for Ukraine. This involves the possible use of drones disguised as Ukrainian ones to carry out attacks on the Baltic states and provocations against Poland.
