Traffic complaints: Beta Drive
A motorist said July 14 that a front-end loader was driving in the wrong lanes and that he had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting it.
He said there was no flagger and the machinery could not be seen coming around a truck into the opposite lane. He added that the driver yelled at him to slow down but said that he was only going 20-mph.
Officers visited the construction site and found that the work was done for the day and that no construction vehicles were parked in the road.
Fraud: Aintree Park Drive
A manager of an assisted living facility came to the station July 14 to speak with an officer about suspicious charges to the company credit card.
The account had $75 worth of unauthorized charges for Door Dash and Amazon.
The incident is under investigation.
Departmental information: North Commons Boulevard
The village’s recreation department reported July 16 that a food truck vendor that works events in the village had a request for money from a third party despite the events being free.
The vendor had called the recreation department to see if they had initiated the request.
Officers confirmed that is was likely a scam and to report the attempted fraud online.
Property damage: Interstate-271
A motorist called 911 July 20 to report a road rage incident in which he said another driver threw an unknown object that struck his car.
He had called after exiting the highway in Willoughby Hills and finding minor damage to his car. He said he would come to the station if he decided to file a report.
Harassing communication: SOM Center Road
A resident reported July 20 that she was receiving harassing calls and texts from her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend regarding the amount of time the man gets with his child.
She said she had discussed the matter with the ex-boyfriend and he said it would not happen again, but their discussion prompted further messages.
Officers contacted the ex-boyfriend and his Middleburg Heights girlfriend and advised them that any further communication with the resident could result in charges for harassment.
Unwanted guest: Beta Drive
The Hilton Garden Inn staff said July 15 that a man and woman would not leave their room.
Officers visited the hotel and guests left with no further incident.
Civil matter: SOM Center Road
Officers responded to Heinen’s July 16 for a report of argument in the parking lot between the drivers of two vehicles.
One driver said that the woman in the other vehicle almost struck him after he honked his horn at her.
Those involved had gone on their way before officers arrived.
