This has been a busy week for The Lord of the Rings fans, who have witnessed the official start of promotion for the big-budget Tolkien TV series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Earlier this week, the first image of Charlie Vickers as Sauron in The Rings of Power Season 3 surfaced online, and it was followed by a new image of Daniel Weyman as Gandalf. Weyman will be the first actor since Ian McKellen to play Gandalf in live-action following Peter Jackson’s first Lord of the Rings movie, The Fellowship of the Ring. Also announced this week was a new Premium Edition release for The Lord of the Rings: The Fall of Númenor, the book that’s set before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring.
It’s safe to say that promotion for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 is now in full swing, and another exciting look at the show has been revealed this afternoon. One of the biggest stars joining the cast in The Rings of Power Season 3 is Jamie Campbell Bower, who recently lit up the screen with his performance as Vecna in the final two seasons of Stranger Things. Details about Bower’s role were being kept under wraps until today, when it was revealed via a first-look image that he will play Celeborn in The Rings of Power Season 3. Celeborn is revealed to be Galadriel's (played by Morfydd Clark) husband; in an interview, Bower described his version of the character as a “lover-boy.”
When Does ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Come Out?
Amazon has announced that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will be released on November 11. To coincide with this new release, Amazon is dropping the new Deluxe Edition of The Fall of Númenor one day before, on November 10. Prime Video has not officially decided the fate of The Rings of Power beyond Season 3, but the studio is confident in the show to perform, so much so that work on Season 4 is already in the early stages of development. Assuming the show gets the green light to continue, production on Season 4 will begin in 2027.
