Key Points

  • Ricki Lake celebrated her 2024 facelift with photos showing the difference it made,
  • The actress and former talk show host also named her procedure and doctor.
  • Lake has previously named Oprah Winfrey, who’s shared her own changes with fans, as an influence.

Ricki Lake is looking back at how much she’s changed.

The former daytime TV talk show host recently shared a split image of herself, before and after her 2024 facelift.

“Happy 2 year anniversary to me,” Lake posted July 18. “Yes, 2 years ago today, I had a facelift. Specifically, for those wondering, I had a deep plane lower face and neck lift along with a mild co2 laser. My incredibly talented and kind surgeon, Dr. Allen Foulad @drallenfoulad made the experience a wonderful one and my results have been remarkable, natural, and long-lasting.”

The star of Hairspray, Cry-Baby, Babycakes, and other projects explained her motivation for seeking out change.

“Back in 2023, I had lost 40 pounds over the course of a year and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin,” she said. “It was never going to tighten up by itself. I took a leap of faith and I’m so grateful I did.”

She added that she was “very glad to see so many people over these past couple of years opening up about their own plastic surgery journeys.”

Lake also noted that the last two of the images showed her recently and “without makeup or filter.”

Now 57, Lake has lived in the spotlight for decades, and she’s perhaps best known for hosting her own talk show beginning in the ‘90s, when she was just 23.

Lake has said she was inspired by Oprah Winfrey, who often shared her own experiences, such as losing weight, with her devotees, as Oprah has long been known to do.

“I had no idea — like my cerebral cortex was just kind of fully forming, I think, at that time,” Lake said this month on the Room to Feel Podcast. “But they offered me this opportunity. I was a big fan of Oprah’s at that time, and I just basically was like, ‘All right, I’m going to just channel her.’”

In practice, Lake said, she avoided the nerves — which she really doesn’t get anyway —by simply trying to channel the TV icon.

“I’m going to just think, What would she say? What would she ask?” Lake said she thought. “I had that secret sauce at that time. I was really curious about people and relationships. I was really forthcoming about my own hardships and successes and my story. I was kind of this chubby girl that people related to.”

She acknowledged in a video she posted last month that, much to her surprise, it had become a huge deal.

“I had truly never, ever thought that it would be the hit that it became and sort of the cultural touchpoint for so many people,” Lake said.
