The NBA world and a handful of teams are waiting to learn where free-agent superstar LeBron James will spend what likely will go down as the final season(s) of his Hall of Fame career.
During the latest edition of the "Game Over" podcast, agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports sent a message to those who want James to make his intentions known sooner rather than later.
LeBron James will not "be rushed" to announce decision for 2026-27 NBA season
"We're not going to be rushed," Paul said, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. "We're not going to be rushed. It's his choice to make, and when he makes the choice, he'll make it."
Some assumed that James would confirm the identity of his next team during the Fanatics Fest event held in New York City through this past weekend. However, he made it known that wouldn't happen and that he would make his announcement "soon."
James won't be returning to the Los Angeles Lakers, and he allegedly won't be signing with the Golden State Warriors. Numerous stories previously linked James with the Warriors, but the ESPN piece noted that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are "believed to be the top teams being considered."
When could LeBron James make his announcement?
NBA insider/reporter Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints was previously among those who suggested James was waiting for the World Cup to end this past Sunday to reveal his next team. More recently, former NBA player Patrick Beverley said that "rumor has it Bron makes his decision" on Monday.
Beverley was proven wrong, and Paul hinted that nobody knows when James will share what's next for his career.
"These people don't know anything," Paul added. "I don't know when [James'] choice is going to be made, but it could be 48 seconds [from now]. It could be 48 minutes. I don't know. Again, you can't make somebody know something that they don't know."
Paul also essentially dared teams to make moves while working under the assumption that James will sign elsewhere.
"If they want to fill their roster spots," Paul said about such clubs, "we're not saying don't fill your roster spots."
For now, the Cavaliers, Heat and 76ers will likely continue to play a waiting game as it pertains to certain roster-related decisions.
