The Cincinnati Reds could be potential sellers come the August 3 trade deadline, as the club sits in last place in the NL Central. Eugenio Suarez’s name continues to pop up as a potential trade candidate, but how does the rest of the league value him in negotiations?
With rumors heating up, MLB insider Mark Feinsand claims that the level of interest in the 13-year veteran is relatively low. However, Feinsand suggests that a contending team may still be interested in trading for Suarez, given how productive he is when he’s at the top of his game. Especially considering his cold play this year makes Suarez a possibly cheap add late in the season.
“One of the hottest names on the trade market a year ago, Suarez is having a down year after signing a one-year, $15 million deal with the Reds last winter,” Feinsand wrote… “Suarez’s subpar season isn’t exactly causing potential suitors to line up, but the 35-year-old helped the Mariners reach the ALCS last season, the fourth time in his career that he has played in the postseason. Suarez could serve as a DH for a contender looking for some pop, and the cost of acquiring him likely wouldn’t be very high.”

The two-time All-Star has largely struggled at the plate throughout the 2026 campaign. Through 259 at-bats, Suarez has recorded 54 hits, 13 home runs, and 37 RBIs. He owns a .208 batting average with a .280 OBP playing for the Reds this year.
Eugenio Suarez will have a chance to improve his trade value on Wednesday. The Reds are scheduled to face off against his former team, the Seattle Mariners, on the road for the third and final contest of the series.
