The Boston Red Sox will have to wait to try to match the longest winning streak in franchise history.
The Red Sox's game Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles was postponed due to significant rain and thunderstorms in the Boston area, the team announced. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday to wrap up the three-game series.
That means the Red Sox will have the chance to push their winning streak to 16 games with a pair of victories Wednesday. If they can pull that off, it'll mark the longest winning streak in franchise history.
The New York Yankees' game Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates was also postponed due to weather, and those two teams will also play a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The comeback victory extended Boston's run to 14 straight wins and snapped Baltimore's seven-game winning streak in the process. The contest was just the second in MLB history in which both teams had winning streaks of at least seven games and combined for at least 20 consecutive wins before playing each other. The last time that happened was in 1884.
Boston's record 15-game winning streak came in 1946. The team last came close to breaking that record in 2006, but that streak was snapped at 12 wins.
The Red Sox will take a 51-48 record into Wednesday’s games with the Orioles. Their last defeat came on July 1 with a 10-2 loss to the Washington Nationals.
