Queen Camilla has been a "steadying influence" on King Charles since they got married, a body language expert has said.
While the monarch's journey through public life has spanned decades, his relationship with his wife has become a key figure in Charles' personal and royal life. According to body language expert Darren Stanton, Camilla's grounded presence and support have helped the King flourish, particularly in the years leading up to and following his accession to the throne.
Darren said Charles has relied on Camilla’s steady reassurance and, over time, their partnership has only strengthened. The expert said Camilla's close relationship with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and her respect for the late Queen Elizabeth II cemented her place at Charles' side.

Darren noted that during the couple's first royal tour to the US in 2005, Camilla had a "deliberately cautious approach" as she stepped back to allow him "to take the lead." By doing this, she "helped reinforce his position while easing the public into their new dynamic," Darren said.
Speaking to The Mirror US on behalf of Betfair Casino, the body language expert shared, "Her willingness to follow his pace rather than dominate the spotlight gave Charles the space to settle into their partnership publicly." He added, "Camilla's gradual, measured introduction into royal duties had a powerful effect on Charles.
"Her strategic restraint and polite, composed demeanor helped create a calm atmosphere around him during a time when public opinion was still shifting. As she slowly opened up to the nation, it allowed Charles to appear more relaxed and assured beside her, strengthening his image as a future monarch supported by a dependable partner."
According to Darren, one of Camilla's greatest impacts on Charles has been through her humor - as she has often been seen laughing in public, and making her husband laugh too, giving the public "rare glimpses of his lighter, more human side." Because of Camilla's "natural warmth and authenticity," people have been able to connect with Charles "on a much more emotional level," the expert shared.
He continued, "Camilla's calm presence has long served as a grounding force for Charles. At countless engagements, he's been seen subtly looking for her in a crowd, relying on her proximity as a source of reassurance. This steady, unobtrusive support has played a crucial part in strengthening Charles' confidence - a dynamic that has become even more evident since he became King."
Reflecting on Camilla's close relationship with Kate, Darren said their bond "has also contributed to the sense of unity surrounding Charles' family life." He explained, "With Camilla taking Kate under her wing after the 2011 royal wedding, their shared laughs and ease with one another have reinforced Charles' desire for stability within the family. Their bond helps create the cohesive, supportive front that is so important to him as monarch."
Darren said that Camilla's "deep respect for royal protocol, particularly in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, helped reassure both the monarch and the institution that Charles’ partnership was built on duty as much as affection." Thanks to her loyalty, Camilla earned the late Queen's admiration, which also helped solidify Charles' position, the expert added.
Camilla celebrated her 79th birthday last week, with the Palace sharing a new photo of the Queen to mark the special occasion. The image was taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson last month in the State Drawing Room at Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland.
Dressed in a regal dark blue dress, the Queen accessorized her outfit with a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch, which was presented to Queen Elizabeth II at the Birmingham Spring Fair in February 1977.
The photo was shared by the royal family's Instagram account, wishing Her Majesty a happy birthday. The message was then shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales, as they added their own birthday wishes to the Queen.
