Kate Middleton is famous for her $527,312 ring stack—perhaps most especially her sapphire and diamond engagement ring, a gift from Prince William in 2010 that was previously worn by Princess Diana.
Included in the ring stack is an Annoushka Eclipse Eternity Band—which the fashion site What Kate Wore values at approximately $2,200—that was given to Kate by William in 2013 after the birth of their eldest child, Prince George, on July 22. It doubles as what Marie Claire U.K. referred to as a “push present” and also an eternity band.
The Princess of Wales is a fan of the British designer Annoushka, and, according to Marie Claire U.K., William “had someone come into their Chelsea boutique on Cadogan Gardens to purchase the ring as a gift.” The exact piece is the brand’s Eclipse 18ct White Gold Diamond Eternity Ring. It is described as “oozing everyday elegance” and “can be worn alone, alongside your engagement and wedding bands, or styled within a stack.” The ring is a “classic that can be passed down through generations,” according to the brand.
In addition to the Princess of Wales’s engagement ring and eternity band, the future queen also wears a Welsh gold wedding band—a tradition for royal brides, as Kate’s band is sourced from the same nugget of Welsh gold as Queen Elizabeth’s—and another eternity ring that Kate has been wearing since 2024, potentially given to her by William as she went through cancer treatment. The princess shared in January 2025 that she is in remission.
In September 2025, Tatler noticed a fifth ring in Kate’s impressive stack—this one adorned with sapphires and diamonds that serves as a complement to her engagement ring. It is thought to be the Étincelle de Cartier wedding band, which Tatler reported was likely given to Kate as a present from William after completing chemotherapy.
When Kate gave birth to George—unbelievably 13 years ago—the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opted to not find out their first child’s gender before welcoming him at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, where William himself was also born. William in particular wanted the surprise of not knowing the gender, a friend told Vanity Fair.
“When I saw William a few weeks before the birth he said they didn’t know [the baby’s gender] and didn’t want to find out,” the friend said. “He said there are so few surprises in life—this was one he wanted to keep.”
“Kate said she thought it was a boy because the baby kicked so much,” the friend added.
While Kate had her heart set on Alexander—which ended up being one of George’s middle names instead—she affectionately called her baby “our little grape” while she was pregnant, Vanity Fair reported.
After his birth on July 22, the announcement of the new royal baby’s birth was made at 8:30 p.m. that day via email and Twitter—a “last minute change of plan,” according to Vanity Fair. “Traditionally, the notice of birth—a bulletin bearing the baby’s sex, weight, and time of birth, signed by the royal medical team—is taken from the hospital to Buckingham Palace, where it is posted on an easel in the forecourt. But William and Kate decided that it would be ‘simpler and easier’ to announce the news via email and social media.” The official tweet from Clarence House read, “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24 p.m.”
On August 3—just weeks after George’s birth—William told guests at a charity polo match in Berkshire, “It’s all going well. It’s quite a game changer.” Of George, he added, “He likes to move around a lot. He wriggles a lot; he keeps us on our toes.”
William said that he and Kate had been “on such a high” when introducing George to the world on the steps of the Lindo Wing.
“We were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him,” William said.
