Investigators Present Graphic Forensic Evidence

During the opening day of the hearing, prosecutors presented crime scene photographs of Celeste's remains. Investigators testified that her dismembered body was discovered inside a body bag and garbage bags in the front trunk (frunk) of an impounded Tesla Model X registered to Burke. Witnesses noted that the singer appeared largely emotionless as the photos were shown to the courtroom.

A key detail presented by LAPD Detective Joshua Byers involved matching tattoos: Burke has the word "Shhh" tattooed on one finger and the name "Celeste" in red on another. Investigators confirmed that Celeste's recovered remains featured the identical "Shhh" finger tattoo, which prosecutors argue underscores their concealed relationship.

In addition, investigators detailed online purchases made around the time of her death. Using his credit card under an alias, Burke allegedly purchased two chainsaws, a body bag, a shovel, and a blue inflatable pool. Forensics linked blue plastic fragments on her body to the pool, and DNA matching Celeste was detected in a bloodstain in Burke's garage.

Former financial manager Michael Feldman testified that D4vd generated over $10 million between 2023 and 2025. Prosecutors contend that Burke killed Celeste after she threatened to expose their illegal relationship, which would have ruined his lucrative career.

Hearing Determines Whether Case Proceeds to Trial

The multi-day hearing will conclude with a judge determining if there is sufficient evidence to hold Burke for a full jury trial. Burke has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment or the death penalty.

Our thoughts remain with Celeste's family and loved ones during this painful process.
