Portlanders experienced triple-digit heat Tuesday when temperatures hit 100 degrees.
The National Weather Service reported 100-degree temperatures between 5 and 6 p.m. in Portland and Vancouver. Gresham reached 101 degrees, weather mapping shows.
Wednesday’s forecast shows a high near 100 that could feel like 104 thanks to relative humidity. Wednesday could also see evening thunderstorms, according to the weather service.
The blistering heat has prompted Multnomah County to declare a state of emergency until 10 p.m. Tuesday and open a dedicated cooling center at the Bud Clark Commons, at 650 N.W. Irving St. until 9 p.m. Snacks and water will be provided, county officials said.
Those seeking relief from the heat can go to other cooling spaces such as community centers and fountains.
