A popular organic food brand recalled more than 184,000 cans of soup that were sold in Illinois and several other states across the U.S. because of defect that put the soup at risk of spoiling, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Amy’s Kitchen, Inc., a California-based company that specializes in organic foods, initiated the ongoing recall of its Organic Lentil Soup – Light in Sodium on June 22 because of a “potential for spoilage,” the recall states.
The affected cans have lot number “60D0924” and a best-by date of April 2027.
Amy’s Kitchen recalled 15,350 cases of the 14.5-ounce cans of soup, according to the FDA. Each case had 12 cans of soup in it.
In addition to Illinois, the recalled soup cans were distributed Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
