POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a retail theft and battery that occurred Sunday afternoon at a Davenport convenience store.
According to deputies, a man walked into the 7-Eleven at 49599 U.S. 27 around 2:00 p.m. on July 19, 2026, to buy tobacco products. When the clerk asked for identification, the man was unable to provide it, and the employee refused the sale.
Investigators said the refusal sparked a disturbance inside the store involving the man and the group accompanying him. During the encounter, a woman in the group spat in the face of a store employee.
Members of the group then took several items from the store before leaving the scene in a white Chevrolet SUV.
