Jalen Brunson is racking up A-list friendships faster than NBA championship rings.

Paul Wesley disclosed that the New York Knicks point guard is “a huge” fan of The Vampire Diaries during Wednesday’s Call Her Daddy podcast episode.

“I’ve been going to Knicks games for years, and I’m friends with Jalen Brunson. He’s a good buddy of mine,” Wesley told host Alex Cooper. “Him and his wife are huge Vampire Diaries fans.”

Because of this, Wesley decided to invite former costar Nina Dobrev to a Knicks game earlier this year, where they sat courtside together — and nearly broke the internet. It also put some pressure on Brunson.

“I texted him right before the game,” Wesley recalled. “I was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, I’m bringing Elena to the game. And he’s like, ‘No way.’”

Wesley and Dobrev watched a “blowout” matchup as the Knicks took on the Chicago Bulls, winning 136-96.

“They won by, like, 50 points, which is unheard of,” Wesley said on Wednesday. “I was like, ‘Jalen’s doing this for Elena, isn’t he? I know he is.’ It’s so funny.”

Wesley and Dobrev played Stefan Salvatore and Elena Gilbert, respectively, on The Vampire Diaries, which aired on the CW for eight seasons from 2009 to 2017. Dobrev departed after the show’s sixth season in 2015, but returned for the finale. (The two are set for an onscreen reunion in the upcoming series You Deserve To Know, produced by Cooper and her Unwell Network.)

Dobrev, for her part, discussed Brunson’s Vampire Diaries fandom late last month when revealing that she partied with the Knicks after they beat out the San Antonio Spurs and took home the 2026 NBA Championship.

“He had a post-championship party, and it was very fun. We had a good time,” the CW alum said on Live With Kelly and Mark. “He, surprisingly, is a Vampire Diaries fan.”

Dobrev gushed over the “sweet” athlete and his wife, Ali Brunson. “I love them both,” she added.

Aside from his prowess on the basketball court, Brunson has become known in some circles as an avid TV viewer. Other than The Vampire Diaries, Brunson has made it clear that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is his favorite show. He’s also gone viral for a wholesome love affair with the show’s star, Mariska Hargitay. (The longtime NBC actress even said the Knicks’ Game 4 win during the NBA Championship was better than her and husband Peter Hermann’s wedding night.)

After Brunson became the King of New York earlier this summer, the basketball star was asked what’s next. Brunson joked that he was going to “try” and get a guest spot on SVU. Maybe there’s room for him on Dobrev and Wesley’s show in the future as well.
