  • Dawson James Brown is accused of impregnating a girl when she was 13 years old in late 2025
  • Investigators allegedly found numerous photos and videos of Brown committing statutory rape against the child
  • The suspect's mother, Sabrina Brown, is accused of trying to coerce the girl into giving police false or fabricated information about the baby's DNA

A Mississippi man and his mother have been arrested in connection with the alleged statutory rape of a minor who was living with their family.

Dawson James Brown was arrested on Friday, July 17, on several charges including statutory rape after police in Pearl River, Miss. received information that a 14-year-old juvenile was pregnant, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Sabrina Brown, who WLOX identified as Dawson’s mother, was also arrested the same day on accusations of evidence tampering, per police.

The investigation began on June 30 when an anonymous reporting party notified the sheriff’s office about the pregnant child, according to the statement.

The girl was 13 when she was allegedly impregnated, which police believe was around October or November 2025, WLOX reported.

Police told the outlet that the girl was living with the Brown family at the time in the home of a pastor at New Heights/College Heights Baptist Church in Poplarville.

Sabrina is the pastor’s wife and Dawson his son, the sheriff’s office told the outlet.

PEOPLE has reached out to the church via email. The church’s social media account has seemingly been taken down as of the afternoon of Wednesday, July 22.

In court documents obtained by WLOX, investigators allege they found multiple images and videos of Dawson committing statutory rape against the girl. Investigators also allegedly uncovered electronic communication in which the girl told others that Dawson was the father of her unborn child, the court documents reportedly said.

The sheriff’s office told the outlet they are also investigating claims that the Browns’ church held a baby shower for the girl.

Court documents cited by WLOX further allege Sabrina tried to “coerce, direct and instruct” the alleged victim on how to provide false or fabricated DNA-related information to police.
