Panera makes a habit of listening to its guests. When it entered its “new era,” it began rebuilding the menu with customer value and preferences in mind. Over the last few years, fans have been treated to revamped versions of their favorite meals, a new value menu, and the return of beloved seasonal favorites.
But not every change is being met with excitement. Recently, Panera announced an update to its Sip Club membership, and some fans say they’re considering leaving the chain for good.
Panera Places Limits on Sip Club Drinks
Starting August 19, Panera’s Sip Club will no longer be unlimited. According to an update on the FAQ page, guests will now be allowed a maximum of 30 drink redemptions per billing cycle.
Previously, guests who enrolled in the program could pay an annual or monthly fee and fill a cup with their choice of soft drinks, tea, and select bubbler or fountain beverages every two hours.
Under the new terms, guests can still receive a fresh drink every two hours, but the number claimed in a 30-day period cannot exceed 30. Unused Beverage Reward Coupons will not roll over to the next month.
Members should note that the price of Sip Club has not changed. It remains $14.99 per month plus tax or $119.99 per year.
In a recent Reddit thread, fans expressed frustration with the change in terms. “Well, I’ll be canceling my membership soon and won’t give them any more money. They lost a long-time customer, too,” one person wrote.
“Once my Sip Club membership ends, I bet I’ll never set foot in a Panera again. (Unless they bring back Mango Yuzu Citrus Charged Lemonade),” another added.

According to the Sip Club membership agreement, “Panera reserves the right to update, change, or modify” the document at any time, and those who cancel are not entitled to refunds. Members with questions or concerns may contact Panera’s guest care team by email or phone.
