Orange cats have a reputation for making questionable decisions, but this fearless feline may have taken things a little too far. Filmed in Zhoushan, China, a video shared by AccuWeather shows an orange cat facing off with a striking cobra, and the scene is intense from start to finish.
What's especially wild is that the cat appears to be the aggressor. He repeatedly swats at the cobra, almost as if he's daring it to strike, and the snake does just that several times. Watch until the very end to see how the dangerous standoff ends, because it's probably not the outcome you'd expect.
That is one brave cat. AccuWeather joked in the caption, "This cat used every one of its nine lives," and they are not wrong about that! It seemed like the cobra got bored with the situation and decided to move on, and many of us were left wondering if the orange cat followed.

We're sure it will come as a surprise to absolutely no one that this video immediately went viral, racking up nearly 30 million views, 2.6 million views, and more than 31,000 comments. People couldn't believe their eyes, and many thought it might have been AI-generated, though it wasn't.

So why doesn't the cat seem afraid? According to EARTH, snakes have relatively poor eyesight and hearing, which means their strikes aren't always perfectly accurate.
There's another reason cats often have the upper paw. While a striking snake may look incredibly fast, cats are even faster. As EARTH explains, "The reaction speed of cats is seven times faster than that of snakes and five times faster than that of humans." Thanks to their lightning-fast reflexes and agility, cats can often dodge a snake's attack before its fangs make contact, even when the snake is venomous.
Of course, that doesn't mean it's a risk worth taking, but this fearless orange cat certainly lived up to the old saying about felines having nine lives.
