Oprah Winfrey is famous for being pretty much the pinnacle of a high achiever… but that doesn’t mean she has to always be doing stuff.

In fact, the star has one guilty pleasure that her longtime bestie and media world colleague Gayle King thinks is baffling.

“My favorite guilty pleasure is doing absolutely nothing,” the veteran TV personality said on the “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” podcast. “When the day has gone, and I say, ‘What have I accomplished? Not one d*** thing.’ That’s my favorite guilty pleasure.”

She continued, “The perfect day for me, people would be so shocked, because my friend Gayle — I realize the older we get, I don’t know how we’ve remained friends for 50 years ’cause we’re so opposite.”

King is always out and about at various events, Winfrey told host Keke Palmer, who also knows this firsthand.

“And she’ll call me sometimes and say, ‘What are you doing, sitting with your thoughts?'” Winfrey said. “And I go, ‘Exactly. That’s exactly what I’m doing.’ So my perfect day is — it’s raining, there’s some fog, you can hear the rain on the roof … having a fireplace, having a dog and reading a book. And having another book after that to read, so you have a little stack. That’s my favorite. But I know that’s not fun for most people. Gayle’s like, ‘Oh, God.'”

King and Winfrey are one of the most iconic friends in show business, having been gal pals for five decades.

The two first met in 1976 when they were working at a local television station in Baltimore.

Speaking in O, The Oprah Magazine in 2006, King said, “We became friends that first night because for the first time, I met somebody who I felt was like me. I’d never met anybody like that. Certainly not another Black girl. I grew up in an all-white community.”

At first, they bonded over — of all things — their unexpected music tastes. “It’s that whole being-the-odd-girl-out thing—we didn’t fit in to everybody else’s perception of what it’s like to be a Black girl,” Winfrey said, while King chimed in, “But we still had a very strong sense of being Black and were very proud of being Black. So to meet another Black girl like that was, wow!”

The two role models have been supporting each other ever since — both in public and behind the scenes.
