Why We Love This Deal

Being both a watch wearer and watch enjoyer, one of the most jarring things I’ve seen is a news outlet write about “budget watches” around the $5,000 mark. If you keep up with Men’s Journal, you’ll know that our preferred watch deals are much more reasonable in price, never shying away from exploring watches under $500 in addition to those in the luxury market. This Seiko watch, now nearly 50% off in ShopHQ’s men’s watch collection, is the perfect example of what I’m talking about.

The Seiko Men’s Essentials 39mm Quartz Second Dial Two-Tone Bracelet Watch is just $225 in a new deal on the site.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Size: 39mm
  • Movement: Quartz
  • Band Type: Stainless Steel
  • Water Resistance: 5 ATM
  • Complications: Second hand subdial

The Seiko Men’s Essentials line is focused on sleek, modern (contrast with Seiko Classics) designs that serve as excellent dress watches without damaging the wallet.

This two-tone Essentials keeps it classy with a silver-white dial, Roman numerals, and slender leaf hands to point to the hours and minutes. The watch’s sole complication is a sub dial with a stick seconds’ hand, which allows users to keep track of partial minutes without creating a large sense of movement about the dial on an otherwise stolid dress watch.

Though the gold-toned accents about the dial, band, and knob make this decisively a dress watch, it’s not overdone in such a way that the watch is stuck being a special occasions watch.

The Seiko Men’s Essentials 39mm Quartz Second Dial Two-Tone Bracelet Watch is $225 at ShopHQ.
