There are plenty of hotels to choose from when visiting Boston, but staying in a historic, brick-built Victorian brownstone offers an entirely different way to experience the city.

In Boston's South End, one spacious Airbnb gives guests three floors of a historic brownstone to call home, complete with views of Union Park and a location within walking distance of some of the city's most popular neighborhoods and attractions. See for yourself why this historic brownstone is one of the most popular Airbnbs in Massachusetts.

The 2,500-square-foot Airbnb rental sits directly across from Union Park, one of the South End's most picturesque residential squares. Step outside and you are surrounded by the architecture that makes this part of Boston so recognizable: rows of brick townhouses, tree-lined streets, and nearby walkable neighborhood restaurants and shops.

Inside, the three-level home combines its Victorian setting with plenty of modern comforts. Exposed brick and hardwood floors preserve some of the character you would hope to find in a Boston brownstone, while large windows bring natural light into the space. It’s history and charm all wrapped up in one magical accommodation.

Let’s start from the top: this floor is dedicated to a large primary suite that spans the entire level. It has 14-foot ceilings, a California king bed, a walk-in closet, and its own sitting area. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the fountains of Union Park, giving guests a pretty spectacular view without even leaving the house.

Two additional bedrooms are located on the middle floor. One has an additional California king bed, while the other includes a queen bed and a queen sleeper sofa. The shared bathroom features Carrara marble tile, a whirlpool soaking tub, and a rain shower. Talk about living in the lap of luxury.

Downstairs is where everyone in the group can gather. The open living area includes a home theater system with surround sound, while the full chef's kitchen is equipped with professional-grade appliances, including a six-burner Viking gas range. A large dining table seats eight, making the house especially convenient for families or groups traveling together.

There is even a private outdoor patio with comfortable seating and a gas grill. When the weather holds, guests can enjoy a little outdoor space without leaving the city. You can also take a cue from the locals and sit on the front stoop overlooking Union Park or bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic.

Of course, one of the biggest reasons to book this brownstone is what waits beyond the front door.

The South End is known for its restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and beautiful residential streets, and many Boston landmarks are within walking distance of the property. Copley Square, the Boston Public Library, Boston Common, the Public Garden, Chinatown, and the Theater District are all about a half-mile away. Newbury Street is nearby for shopping, while Fenway Park is about 1.5 miles from the home.

It’s worth noting that there is no dedicated parking included with the property, although the host notes that assistance securing parking may be available. Just keep this in mind if you’re driving into town.

Boston's Back Bay train station is also just a quarter-mile away, however, making it easier to visit without relying on a car.

For travelers who have always wanted to experience what it might be like to live in one of Boston's historic brownstones, this South End stay comes pretty close. Between mornings overlooking Union Park, evenings on the private patio, and some of Boston's best-known sights just a walk away, the house makes the city itself feel like part of your stay.
