Release day buzz and the (nominally correct) assumption that every beautiful new variation and insert you spend so much time brushing up on in the weeks leading up to a drop will end up being impossible to obtain seemed likely to conspire to push one of 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball's foremost beauties into an impossible echelon. But somewhere along the way, the napkin math went wonky, and this year's "Perspectives" inserts, which haven't appeared in a Topps Chrome product in 10 years, are blessedly attainable.
Given their prominent place in the marketing materials (Albert Pujols pointing to the sky as his name unfurls behind him on the infield dirt), we feared this 10-card set would be an SSP, listed alongside something called "World Series at Night" on the checklist (that sounds like something where three cards were ever produced and two were destroyed by a warlock's fire).
Instead, it's the autographed Perspectives that are precious and constitute a chase. The base version appears to be available to anyone who wants it, with eBay purchase prices ranging from $12 (Nick Kurtz) to $20 (Yoshinobu Yamamoto) to $22 (Jac Caglianone). Have at 'em, folks, especially while Roman Anthony's market is temporarily depressed. You can collect this set without blinking, then take out a second life insurance policy to chase the signed versions.
SSPs and Rookie Cards to chase in new 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball
As expected, Caglianone and Anthony will be among the most prominent rookie chases. You can place Munetaka Murakami atop that list, who's returned to slugging for the surprising White Sox, as well as names like Jacob Misiorowski (yes, really), Sal Stewart, Kevin McGonigle, JJ Wetherholt, and the one and only Konnor Griffin. The NL Central is heavily represented here, as it will be in end-of-year honors as well.
True to form, those darn "World Series at Night" inserts really are case hit SSPs, and they're also spiffy, featuring borderline daguerrotypes of the Series' heroes set against black webbed backgrounds. "World Series Champion" autographs, much to the chagrin of the entire nation of Canada, feature only the signatures of select members of the 2025 Dodgers. And, true to their word, Topps has resumed their "Cooperstown Calls" series, inserting green refractors of last year's inductees, as well as blues /150 and autos of Carlos Beltrán, Jeff Kent, and Andruw Jones, this year's class.
