Today's Connections answers
The Connections answers on July 22 for puzzle #1,136 are tougher than yesterday's puzzle, with the Connections Companion rating this puzzle's difficulty at 2.3 out of 5.

Today's puzzle features an obvious rock band set, which is a trick. I tend to put in the obvious sets because I feel that it's 50/50 whether it's actually a connection or a trick. However, when it is a trick, it's also usually a clue to how the four groups should be solved.
I started with White Stripes mostly because it was the first one I clicked on. Mane and hooves got me on the zebra trail with tail.
Hives was below White Stripes, so I went there next. Clearly it's allergies, so rash, itching, and redness were quick finds.
Vines got me to social media with tweets, snaps, and pins.
Which left the Strokes, with hole, par, and score for golfing.

I ended up going down the line today, somewhat by accident.
I thought I was being vaguely clever when I connected tops with tank, tube, crop, and halter. But alas, it was the yellow.
So, I grabbed the next thing I saw in software with extension, plugin, driver and app. Green down.
Book and lyrics popped to me as musical, which is why I chose music and orchestration for the blue set.
That left telegram, telekinesis, teleprompter, and television as my final four.
