It feels like every year the Philadelphia Eagles have high expectations to make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.
What helps with that is Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni taking his team to the Super Bowl twice and appearing in the playoffs every season since he was hired in 2025. Also, since 2000, they have been to the playoffs 18 times and missed it just seven times.
Before the Eagles broke off for the Summer, Sirianni spoke with the media, where he talked about expectations for the team. The now-veteran head coach doesn't get bothered by stuff like that, as he has gotten used to it.
“You come off a ’22 season, and we did what we did, and I think that that standard has been what’s been expected — not only from the outside, I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to play to a standard," Sirianni said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "It’s going to push us to become better, because they’re so high. …We all struggle. We all wrestled with that, like, ‘Man, that’s maybe not fair that the expectation is that high,’ or, ‘Hey, man, we’re going to become as good as we possibly can, because the expectation is so high.’”
Nick Sirianni is used to having to deal with high expectations
In Philadelphia, the expectations are to go to the Super Bowl. It's all about winning, which is what Sirianni has done a lot of, making it easier to deal with expectations when it happens constantly.
During his five-year run, Sirianni is 59-26, winning 69.4% of the games he has coached. He has a 6-4 postseason record, including two Super Bowls and one title in 2024.
It's part of the reason why there is so much pressure on Sirianni to succeed in 2026. He was put on the hot seat because the standard in Philadelphia is so much higher than any other head coaching job in the NFL.
That's unfair of him to be on the hot seat, as he has proven himself to be a winner, but the Eagles need to win now. Playoffs are not enough for this franchise, and Super Bowls matter for a team trying to become a dynasty.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has done a great job putting together a group of players that can compete for a Super Bowl in 2026. Sirianni has to be the guy to lead that franchise to where they are expected to be, and he relishes that kind of pressure because he's confident he can get it done.
