During Nick Saban’s Hall of Fame career, he has been a member of the Crimson Tide, a Spartan, a Tiger, and even a Dolphin for a spell.
But during Wednesday’s coverage of SEC Media Days, the former Crimson Tide coach revealed something new.
He’s a Gator now.
Well, “semi-Gator,” Florida head coach Jon Sumrall explained on the SEC Now set.
“Let me just say one thing to you, John,” Saban said.
“I’m a Florida resident now, and down there amongst the Gators, and Governor [Ron] DeSantis is a good friend. You took our former [University of Alabama] President Stuart Bell, who’s now a Gator, and I want you to know I’m kind of a semi-gator. If you don’t get your sh-t together, I’m gonna be in the middle of that. I just want you to know that.”
It’s clear that Saban is rooting for tthe Huntsville native Huntsville native to have success in his first season at Florida, even indicating that if Florida starts to struggle, Saban will ensure starts to struggle, Saban will be making sure he gets things together.
Sumrall makes his Florida debut with the Gators on Sept. 5 when they host Florida Atlantic in Gainesville.
