Colorado Parks and Wildlife has confirmed a new gray wolf family group in Eagle County: the Piney Ridge Pack.
CPW has also confirmed successful reproduction of three other packs: One Ear (Jackson County), Three Creeks (Rio Blanco County) and Copper Creek (Pitkin County).
CPW said pack formation is a critical milestone for species restoration as established packs tend to have higher survival rates in comparison to lone wandering wolves.
"Detection of pups in late spring or early summer is inherently challenging, because of their use of remote habitats in dense cover, secretive nature of very young animals, and time potentially underground," said CPW's Wolf Conservation Program manager Eric Odell. "We will continue to monitor the four reproducing packs in Colorado."
Further details on these four packs will be released in spring of 2027 in CPW's 2026-2027 annual report.
