New record-breaking Six Flags coaster faces stuck-rider complaints

A new Six Flags Over Texas roller coaster has been drawing thrill seekers to Arlington this summer as the world's first and only giga dive coaster. But some park guests say the record-setting ride hasn't been all thrills after some malfunctions.

Tormenta Rampaging Run officially opened on Thursday, July 9, following delays in the commissioning and testing process. It is 309 feet tall and more than 4,100 feet long, according to the park's website.

Guests have expressed major interest in the ride, with a massive line forming at the site through the second day of its operation. However, some visitors have alleged on social media that the coaster has become stuck multiple times since launching.

In a video dated Sunday, July 12, a user shared a clip showing two of the trains, which carry a total of 24 people across three rows, paused on the tracks. In the comments, account user @Babz2885 told MySA they were on the coaster when it stopped around 4 p.m.

In another clip, TikTok creator @_ItzAyana93 shared a video of people walking down the ride's emergency stairs. The individual traveled in from out of town and visited on Sunday, July 19, they told MySA.

"We saw the whole thing. After like an hour or so, the ride reopened. I won't dare to get on big rides like that, but my husband loves these rides," the user said. "He was happy to actually ride it since we are from Houston!"

Another post, allegedly taken during a technical rehearsal (before the opening date), showed riders being let off the ride before it reached its designated stop. The account, published by theme park enthusiast Full Thrill, said in the comments that it happened on Saturday, July 4.

Another video alleging that the ride became stuck on Friday, July 17, is included below. The post's publisher tells MySA that passengers were stuck for about one to two hours.

The ride is themed after Spain's thrilling "Running of the Bulls" tradition. During the event, thousands accompany six fighting bulls and six steers as they sprint from the Corrales de Santo Domingo to Pamplona's Plaza de Toros bullfighting arena.
