Class is back in session at Hillman!
In December 2025, Netflix greenlit a sequel to the fan-favorite sitcom “A Different World” — and we’ve finally got more details to share.
The sequel series will go by the same name and will hit the platform on Sept. 24, 2026.
Per Netflix’s Tudum, the 10-episode continuation “will explore the lives and loves of a new generation at Hillman College.” Specifically, it will follow Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), who is the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy).
In addition to Wayne and Gilbert, returning cast members include: Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson; Cree Summer as Freddie Brooks; Ajai Sanders as Gina Deveaux; Karen Malina White as Charmaine Brown; Charnele Brown as Dr. Kimberly Reese Boyer; Jenifer Lewis as Professor Davenport; Dawnn Lewis as Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor; Glynn Turman as Colonel Bradford Taylor; and Jada Pinkett Smith as Lena James.
In addition to Moon, new faces will include Alijah Kai, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, Kennedi Reece, Chibuikem Uche, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Norman Nixon Jr., Vincent Jamal Hooper and more.
Debbie Allen, who directed the original series, serves as an executive producer on the show and directed the reboot’s premiere episode. Speaking to Tudum, she said: “There couldn’t be a better time than now to reboot ‘A Different World.’”
