YouTube sensation Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has officially tied the knot in a spectacular week-long wedding celebration, marrying South African-born Thea Booysen on a luxurious private island.

The couple exchanged vows in front of 70 close friends and family members on 14 July 2026 in the British Virgin Islands.

The intimate ceremony reportedly took place on Richard Branson’s exclusive 74-acre Necker Island. The 28-year-old internet star and his new wife, who has already changed her social media handles to Thea Donaldson, met four years ago during a chance encounter in South Africa.

For the special occasion, Donaldson donned a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo. Meanwhile, the bride stunned in a custom wedding gown created by Nicole + Felicia Couture, accompanied by a bridal robe by Banke Kuku.

Guests at the destination wedding enjoyed days of resort activities, including kitesurfing, snorkelling, and feeding the island’s resident lemurs and flamingos.

The reception featured a feast of sushi, fish, and Wagyu beef, followed by Booysen’s favourite: a carrot wedding cake. The newlyweds shared their first dance to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ hit track, Die With a Smile.

Following the formalities, the after-party moved to the main house where guests enjoyed board games and card games.

“This is cliché, but it was heaven,” Booysen told People.

How the YouTube king met Thea Booysen

Donaldson, whose MrBeast channel boasts over 500 million subscribers, is well-known for his philanthropy in South Africa, including previously donating 20,000 pairs of shoes to local children.

Booysen is a formidable force in her own right. The South Africa-born gamer and esports commentator holds degrees in law and psychology from Stellenbosch University, and a master’s in neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh. She is also a published author.

The pair first met in 2022 when Donaldson was stranded in South Africa after a planned Antarctica trip was cancelled due to Covid-19. A mutual friend invited Booysen to a dinner, where the two instantly connected over discussions about neuroscience and her novel.

After maintaining a long-distance relationship, MrBeast proposed on Christmas Day 2024, opting for a private family moment over a public spectacle.
