Moro Ojomo's reaction to Eagles rookie's strength at OTAs says it all

The Philadelphia Eagles have a big season coming up and they need all the help they can get.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman used the 2026 NFL Draft to bring in some great young talent to help the franchise out. One player that got a lot of attention that is going to need time to develop is rookie seventh-round pick defensive lineman Uar Bernard.

There was a ton of buzz around Bernard weeks before the draft after weighing over 300 pounds and onyl has 6% body fat, while also running a 4.6-second 40-yard dash. Since he has never played American football before, Bernard is learning from his peers and coaches, so that he can get caught up.

The Eagles released a video of Moro Ojomo and showing him work with Bernard on his hands. After Bernard used his hands to push Ojomo back in a drill, team player development assistant Matt Leo asked the question, “How do his hands feel?” Ojomo only needed one word to describe his experience with Bernard.

Ojomo gave Eagles fans all the confirmation they needed about Bernard that he has the potential to be a great player. To have the kind of size, strength, and speed he has, Roseman knew what he was doing when he selected Bernard in the seventh round.

The Eagles have had experience with players who have never played American football. They did the exact same thing with Jordan Mailata, and he became one of the best left tackles in the NFL.

It's going to take some time for Bernard to develop, so the chances of him making the 53-man roster are slim. That's okay because the Eagles don't want to rush him. Having a spot on the practice squad in 2026 would be the best thing for Bernard.

If he ends up learning quickly and makes the 53-man roster, the NFL should be put on notice then. Bernard has a chance to be one of the greats if given the time to develop the right way.

Eagles fans can't wait for training camp to get started so they can see Bernard in action. If the Eagles get this right, this could end up being the highlight of Roseman's career in the NFL.
