With training camp on the horizon for the 2026 NFL season, plenty of change is inbound for NFL teams, and with change comes plenty of questions. With teams seeing new faces on their roster, new coaches, and new schemes, the 2026 season should continue to build off the exciting finish in 2025.
Sports Illustrated NFL writer Eva Geitheim created a list of two "burning questions" that each NFL team has, with training camp beginning soon. For the Eagles, they'll have to wait five days (camp begins on July 28) to start answering the big one: "How will Jalen Hurts and the Eagles fit into this new offense?"
"Few teams are making a greater schematic change than the Eagles this offseason, who are switching to a McVay-rooted scheme under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. The offense is now slated to feature more motion and plays from under-center—things Hurts reportedly refrained from in previous offenses. Mannion has praised Hurts for his adjustment and attitude toward the offense so far, but it will take until the season to see how it all comes together."

As with everything in Philadelphia, franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts will continue to be the main topic of conversation under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. After relieving longtime Sirianni disciple Kevin Patullo, the Eagles have turned to the former NFL quarterback in an effort to maximize the talents of Hurts.
In what could be seen as a dynamic change, Mannion, who comes from the Sean McVay and Kevin O'Connell coaching tree, is set to adopt more of a West Coast offense with more motion and play action from under center. While Mannion has given Hurts high praise so far this off-season, it'll be exciting (or disappointing) depending on how things look come week one.
While the offense will clearly hinge on Hurts' ability to control it, what made the Eagles so successful in their 2024 season was their ability to dominate the running game. While some may attribute Saquon Barkley's regression to the "Madden Curse", the ability for the team to begin a new era of coaching with Chris Kuper, replacing Jeff Stoutland, will be the key piece moving into the 2026 regular season.

Barkley is now another year older, and despite rushing for over 1,000 yards in 2025, he started extremely slow to begin his campaign last season. With a new offense and a new mentality in the trenches, maximizing Barkley's talent for not only 2026 but the rest of his contract will be a storyline that will continually be monitored in the future.
