Wednesday has proven a day of extreme highs and extreme lows at Nu Stadium, with the news of Casemiro joining Inter Miami swiftly followed by the MLS announcing an investigation was ongoing into tampering allegations.
Miami announced the signing of five-time UEFA Champions League-winning midfielder Casemiro, 34, just three minutes before the MLS revealed it was looking into "a tampering allegation."
“Major League Soccer is reviewing a tampering allegation against Inter Miami CF. The league is gathering all relevant information and will refrain from further comment until the review is complete,” the league said in a statement.

“While Inter Miami CF and the LA Galaxy have reached a settlement for the Discovery priority to sign Casemiro, the terms will be released upon conclusion of the tampering investigation.”
All Out Soccer has reached out to Miami for comment regarding the investigation.
Casemiro joins the Herons, co-owned by Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham, after the Brazilian left Old Trafford following four seasons in the Premier League. This came after a trophy-laden 10 seasons in La Liga with Los Blancos, during which he established himself as one of the best holding midfielders of his generation.
His arrival will be extremely welcome in Miami, with the team having struggled defensively once more this season, allowing 28 goals through 15 games, with only five other Eastern Conference teams having leaked more - none of which are higher than fifth in the standings.
This comes despite the team having signed reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Canadian international Dayne St. Clair, former Spanish international full back Sergio Reguilón, center back Micael, and former Argentina youth internationals Facundo Mura (right back) and David Ayala (defensive midfielder) this past window.

Casemiro will now line up alongside Argentina international Rodrigo de Paul, often referred to as Lionel Messi’s ‘bodyguard’ at the heart of the Herons’ midfield, with the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner leading the attack along with ex-Barcelona star Luis Suárez and Mexican international Germán Berterame.
Miami is set to resume its MLS Cup title defense on Wednesday when they host Gregg Berhalter’s Chicago Fire at Nu Stadium, with the visitors now led by another former Barcelona striker in Robert Lewandowski, who recently joined as a free agent.
Exactly when Casemiro will make his Miami debut remains unclear, with the veteran yet to receive his necessary visa. He has joined the franchise on a deal through the 2027 Sprint Season, with the option to extend his stint in Florida through the summer of 2029.
