The Boston Red Sox are in the midst of a 14-game winning streak. At the same time, they are negotiating potential trades just in time for the critical MLB Trade Deadline on August 3.
All of which coincides with looking to secure a playoff spot.
Therefore, the context creates space for the Red Sox to look to acquire a reliever to lock up those late innings, most notably Houston Astros reliever Josh Hader, per Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Given that Houston is lacking late-inning relief, it’s being considered a wise move for them to trade Hader. Teams such as the Red Sox are in great need of that reliever to come in the 8th and 9th innings to win games at this stage.
Hader has a 3-1 record with a 1.56 ERA and 10 saves. Additionally, he also brings a high strikeout rate of over 41% this year and over 44% for his career. Furthermore, Hader brings a vast array of pitches to his arsenal, including a sinker, fastball, and a mean slider.
After a below .500 start to the season, the Red Sox are in a tight race for the Wild Card. Currently, the AL Wild Card standings are a three-way battle between the Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Guardians.
Nevertheless, the Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman, who’s considered a trade prospect, has 22 saves. Plus, there is a 30% chance he’ll be traded. He has a high trade value, but given the Red Sox’s push to the postseason, Boston is very much in a bind.
