WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WDKY) — A missing Kentucky dog and his owner have been reunited after a harrowing fall and a coordinated cliffside rescue operation.

On July 11, the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team (WCSART) posted on Facebook that the owner of a dog who had been missing for four days called for help when he finally heard “faint barks” from a cliffside near Miller Ridge.

Search team members said the dog fell from an approximately 65-foot cliff and became stranded on a narrow ledge nearly halfway down.

“Our team responded and conducted a high-angle rope rescue operation to safely reach the anxious pup,” Wolfe County Search and Rescue wrote. “After carefully securing the dog, rescuers brought him back to the top, where he was reunited with his relieved and grateful owner. Thankfully, this story had a happy ending.”

The team thanked its volunteer members who put the time and dedication into learning life-saving techniques—for humans as well as their four-legged companions.

“Every life matters, and we’re thankful this one made it home,” WCSART wrote.
