First Lady Melania Trump faced ridicule for her outfit at the 2026 World Cup final over the weekend, with many critics arguing it was too lavish for a sporting occasion.
On Sunday, July 19, Melania, 56, and her 80-year-old husband Donald Trump attended the championship match between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Argentina was defeated. Melania showcased several American fashion designers with a sporty look that featured a Thom Browne tan nylon tech track jacket, complete with a patriotic red, white and blue striped collar.
The mother-of-one paired her designer jacket with a white Gap T-shirt and white Ralph Lauren belted trousers, finishing the look with a pair of oversized Aviator sunglasses. This comes as a rumor has been swirling about Melania Trump's identity.

Numerous X users had plenty to say about her World Cup ensemble, and the online reaction was far from universally positive, reports the Irish Star. "I find this account really annoying. Very shallow. And pathetically materialistic. She's more than the clothes she wears," one user wrote on X, while another fired back, "Embarrassments, all."
"The corrupt elite at the World Cup," fumed a third. However, despite the backlash, some have applauded Melania for bringing her fashion A-game to the 2026 World Cup.
Melania's Thom Browne Track Jacket with Stowaway Hood retails for $1,690 at Nordstrom, and her Belle Vivier Ballerinas are priced at $945, putting that portion of her outfit at a combined total of $2,635.
"Perfection. The glasses are such a good look too. whole outfit is amazing. jacket looks better on her w[ith] the white, her tan and the glasses, than the model," one X user shared, while another remarked, "What an upside down world we live in when the most elegant, dignified, and classy First Lady in modern times is not gracing every magazine cover. An actual model, with brains to go with that beauty. IDC who her husband is, she is what any First Lady should be."
One admirer gushed, "Most beautiful first lady! So Elegant, stylish and chic!" while another concluded, "FLOTUS looks patriotically stunning in a tan nylon tech track jacket by Thom Browne worn over a white Gap t-shirt, white Ralph Lauren trousers, and white Roger Vivier buckle flats."
While the Trump family's presence drew considerable attention inside the stadium, they weren't the only ones turning heads, as a host of A-list celebrities were also in attendance.
Other notable faces spotted in the crowd included Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Matt Damon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Victoria and David Beckham, Javier Bardem, Jon Hamm, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner.
