LYME - A Massachusetts woman was seriously injured in a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and SUV in Lyme Monday evening, police said.
A 46-year-old Hampden, Mass., woman, who was identified as the driver of the SUV, was transported by LifeStar medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital following the crash, Connecticut State Police said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Hamburg Road, also known as Route 156, around the Sterling City Road intersection at 5:35 p.m., police said. The driver of the SUV crossed into the northbound lane while negotiating a right curve and hit the pickup truck traveling in the lane, police said. The SUV then spun and came to a rest in the southbound lane, police said.
Police said the pickup truck driver, a 57-year-old Rhode Island man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital by EMS.
The serious crash remains under investigation, police said.
