Madonna has responded to widespread speculation claiming she was spotted with Donald Trump during the World Cup final.
The pop star released a definitive statement disputing climas she was present in his VIP suite during the Sunday, July 19, match after claims circulated on social media.
Madonna, 67, was among the performers at the World Cup final halftime show, the inaugural event of its nature, but encountered backlash following her appearance. Critics weren't happy as they accused Madonna of using two sporting legends as if they were "props."

Following a quick camera shot from Trump's suite displaying some of those present with him, First Lady Melania Trump, FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Mexican president Claudia Shienbaum, and others, some believed they identified the performer sitting beside Melania Trump.
This immediately sparked criticism of Madonna, as numerous people were outraged by her apparent fraternization with the president. Nevertheless, her representative has since confirmed to Rolling Stone that she was not present in the suite.
The supposed sighting in the suite also occurred prior to the halftime show, when she would have been backstage making preparations for her performance.
The individual in the suite was also wearing different clothes from the singer and was positioned there during a later portion of the event.
Madonna has been an outspoken opponent of the Trump administration, using social media to criticize him following his 2024 election victory, making any potential joint appearance highly improbable.
"Trying to get my head around why a convicted felon, rapist, bigot was chosen to lead our country because he's good for the economy?" she posted on her Instagram Stories at the time.
She also prominently displayed an image of a cake bearing the message "f-k Trump," captioning it, "Stuffed my face with this cake last night!"
Naturally, the speculation about her associating with the president wasn't the only backlash she encountered during the final, as numerous critics took issue with her overall performance.
Madonna performed her 2000 hit song Music during her segment, but drew criticism because, unlike Bieber, Shakira, Burna Boy, and BTS, she didn't take to the field.
She also received harsh criticism for featuring Brazilian soccer icons Ronaldo and Ronaldinho on a pink dune buggy, with observers claiming she exploited them as "props.
"They got Ronaldinho and Ronaldo in that vehicle with no idea what's being said or done. This is elder abuse-Madonna included," one individual posted on X at the time, while another stated, "The halftime show is awful. America must never host the World Cup again. Madonna even brought out Ronaldo and Ronaldinho as props."
