There’s no easy fix for CIA operatives Liam Neeson and Zachary Levi in their new action-thriller.
Set for release on September 11, 2026, The Fix casts the highly-skilled star of the Taken series alongside the charismatic actor behind superhero Shazamin a pulse-pounding tale that’s part espionage movie, and part heist flick. Originally titled Hotel Tehran before a change-up, the film is the brainchild of writer-director Guy Moshe, working from an original idea from real-life former intelligence operative Bazzel Baz, with Mark Bacci credited as co-writer.
The new trailer for The Fix (via Briarcliff Entertainment) previews all the movie’s Iran-set intrigue and action, with Neeson as a gruff CIA officer, and Levi as his younger protégé. The cast also includes Titus Welliver, alongside Quincy Isaiah (Winning Time), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Grant Harvey (Animal Kingdom), and Augusto Aguilera (The Predator).
The Fix “follows a group of war-torn CIA operators mentored by “Larry” (Liam Neeson) and led by “Tucker” (Zachary Levi) who, after their mission in Afghanistan goes tragically wrong, enter the heart of Tehran to earn redemption by pulling off a daring rescue” according to its official synopsis.
The new trailer fills in plenty of details barely teased in that summary, including the tragic nature of Shazam! star Levi and company’s Afghanistan mission, and the marriage-straining emotional fall-out Levi experiences as a result. The clip also reveals that the “daring rescue” promised in the synopsis is actually a risky heist that involves Levi and his men going undercover in Tehran, to gain access to a hotel room where, years before, Neeson’s character stashed millions of dollars.
The Fix then earns its title as Levi and company break through the hotel room wall and do not find the expected fortune, but instead discover something Levi calls “more valuable.” The clip teases that the whole heist was designed to recover this valuable something, a detail Neeson neglected to disclose to his protégé, who accuses him of lying. “I may deceive you son,” Neeson intones in the growly action-hero voice he has perfected since the first Taken movie, “but I’ll never lie to you.”
Writer-director Moshe revealed his reasons for making The Fixin a statement shared earlier this month. “The Fix was born from a long-standing desire of mine to put audiences inside the chaos and moral weight of war, not just the action of it,” he said. “Working with an ensemble cast that was entirely committed to our cause, led by Liam and Zac, who set the tone, allowed me to push the story into deeply human territory while still delivering the visceral, large-scale filmmaking this genre demands.”
