The Miami Heat's social media team may have broken the internet on Tuesday night.
With the entire NBA community officially on a 24/7 LeBron James watch, Internet detectives found something that caught their attention: The Heat's YouTube account had scheduled an introductory news conference for LeBron James on July 27. Heat beat writers and insiders were quick to dismiss the story, calling it a test run and nothing more. However, that big blunder may have ruined their actual shot at a reunion with The King.
LeBron James may not want to return to Miami anymore
LeBron James and his camp have always been extremely intentional about every single move they make, both minor and major. They've worked extremely hard to ensure there are no leaks, letting his teams know of his decision just minutes before he makes an official announcement.
Also, his agent and close friend, Rich Paul, just revealed that James had already chosen a team before changing his mind, so what if that happens again after this miscue?
James is all about controlling the narrative, and now that he's no longer in control, he may not want anything to do with it. He won't want to deal with people talking about how he scripted his comeback or how he purposely dragged his decision for show and attention.
Of course, those aren't basketball reasons to make such a big career move, but we've seen crazier things happen. A return to Miami always felt odd, given his past with Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra. But even if they were all willing to bury the hatchet, perhaps what happened on Tuesday night was a sign to let him know he should take his talents elsewhere.
