Arthur Kaluma has turned a strong Summer League into an NBA opportunity. After averaging 18.6 points per game while shooting an outstanding 50% from three-point range in Las Vegas, the versatile forward has reportedly agreed to a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The deal will allow Kaluma to split his time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, while giving him opportunities to earn minutes at the NBA level if his development continues on its current trajectory.
Kaluma had already shown encouraging signs during the 2025-26 G League season. He averaged 13.8 points per game while knocking down 37.8% of his three-point attempts, establishing himself as one of South Bay's most reliable offensive contributors. His outstanding Summer League performance ultimately convinced the Lakers that he deserves another chance.
The biggest obstacle to making the signing official is roster flexibility. Los Angeles currently has all three of its two-way contract spots filled, meaning the organization will need to waive one player before Kaluma's agreement can be finalized.
Chris Mañon, AK Okereke and Peter Suder currently occupy those two-way roster spots. One of the three will have to be released, although the Lakers have not yet announced which player will be the odd man out.
For a Lakers team looking to improve its floor spacing and add athletic wings around its core, Kaluma's combination of size, shooting and defensive versatility makes him an intriguing developmental prospect. If he continues building on his Summer League momentum, he could earn NBA minutes sooner rather than later during the 2026-27 season.
