KJ Apa says his Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse once punched him in the face in a strip club after learning he was using drugs.
In a recent appearance on the Wildmen podcast, hosted by Brendan Columbus and Cole’s twin brother Dylan Sprouse, the 29-year-old actor shared that he and Cole “almost got into a fight.”
“He punched me in the face!” Apa shared.
“He hit me because we were in a strip club and, at this time, I was doing a lot of drugs and a lot of my close friends were worried about me,” Apa explained. “And he had learned that I was doing drugs again.”
Speaking of the moment, Apa added, “It was a love punch.”
“It was kind of a wake-up punch,” Dylan then interjected.
“Yeah. No, it was a wake-up punch,” Apa said.
Apa has previously credited his sobriety with becoming a father, saying in another recent interview, with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM, that having a child “forced me to get sober.”
“A lot of things that I realized I had to button up, I buttoned up, and I realized that there’s no other way for me to do it,” Apa, who shares 4-year-old Sasha with ex-girlfriend Clara Berry, added.
