Best known for her Oscar-winning performance as Velma Kelly in the 2002 true crime musical, Chicago, Catherine Zeta-Jones remains one of the most important actresses in Hollywood history. Between 1998 and 2002 was an electric time for fans of Zeta-Jones’ work, as she starred in massive hits like The Mask of Zorro (co-starring Antonio Banderas), Entrapment (co-starring Sean Connery), and even Traffic (co-starring Michael Douglas and Benicio del Toro). Zeta-Jones never earned another Oscar nod following her breathtaking performance in Chicago, but she’s been steadily starring in other movies and TV shows in the last few years despite the lack of awards recognition. She has a key role as Morticia in one of the biggest Netflix shows of all time, Wednesday, which stars Jenna Ortega as the titular character, Wednesday Adams.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is always on the hunt for her next big project, and she’s found another starring role in a show that could be one of the biggest of the year. Zeta-Jones will star opposite Daniel Ings, Bill Paterson, and Ron Perlman in the new revenge thriller show, Kill Jackie, which has officially landed global distribution thanks to AMC. The show will premiere on AMC+ this fall, as officially confirmed by a new press release from AMC today detailing the acquisition. In addition to starring in the leading role, Zeta-Jones also produces the show, which is based on the novel The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway. The show was written and created for TV by Conor Keane and Tom Butterworth, and additional cast members include Sidse Babett Knudsen, Óscar Jaenada, Hattie Hook, Darci Shaw, Raff Law, Enzo Cilenti, Christine Adams, Tadashi Ito, and more. The first look at the series has also been released.
What is ‘Kill Jackie’ About?
AMC has released an official synopsis for Kill Jackie, which reads as follows: “Kill Jackie follows Jackie Price (Zeta-Jones) who has spent the last twenty years living a quiet, luxurious existence selling fine art while remaining anonymous after escaping a criminal past. Her carefully constructed world is shattered when she discovers that The Seven Demons, a squad of ruthless assassins, have been hired to kill her.
