Kevin Feige's latest comments about the MCU have painted the clearer picture about what to expect from the ending of Avengers: Secret Wars and how it will set up the next era for the Marvel movie franchise. Given Avengers: Endgame provided a majorly dramatic conclusion to the Infinity Saga almost a decade ago now, the matter of how Avengers: Secret Wars will close off the Multiverse Saga and pave the way for what comes next is a fascinating matter that has only grown more interesting with time.
The scale and scope of the MCU multiverse has meant the theoretical possibilities in terms of how Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will handle their stories are theoretically almost limitless, though there are some clear directions the MCU timeline would be best moving in, particularly when factoring in the setup we've had for their story since the Multiverse Saga began.

Kevin Feige's MCU Reboot Comments Tie Avengers: Secret Wars' Ending Even Closer To One Specific Comic
While discussing the MCU's trajectory and whether the franchise would look at a full-scale reboot following Avengers: Secret Wars in an interview with Josh Horowitz, Kevin Feige rejected the rumor that Secret Wars will be split into two parts, and explained the intent isn't to fully reset Marvel's movie world in the way DC did when it went from the DCEU to the DCU. Feige went on to state that:
"I look to the comics as I always do in terms of our storytelling, both the Secret Wars, but particularly [In] the [Jonathan] Hickman ‘Secret Wars’ from 10 years ago, there's a nice roadmap to where we can go."
This direct comment is interesting in that the 2015-2016 Secret Wars comic made by Jonathan Hickman, Esad Ribić, and Ive Svorcina closed with a soft reboot of Marvel's comic worlds that allowed the franchise to adjust some multiversal details. Most notably, this involved Miles Morales becoming a part of Marvel's main comic universe, having previously existed in the alternate Ultimate universe instead.
It's seemed likely for some time now that Avengers: Secret Wars would take some inspiration from how the 2015 comic handled its own version of events. However, given the MCU has often only loosely adapted its source material, as we can see with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - and given the 1984-1985 Secret Wars story is also a viable source of inspiration for the MCU movie that takes a very different path - the confirmation of what Avengers: Secret Wars' story and finale will be drawing from most is exciting to see.
Mirroring Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars Comic Ending Would Build A Golden Soft Reboot For The MCU
In effect, the 2015-2016 Secret Wars comic's ending is the ideal subject matter for Avengers: Secret Wars' own ending to draw from for a range of reasons - the most immediately pressing being that the comic was decidedly well received overall, and thus, the MCU mirroring it in even some aspects gives the Secret Wars movie a far better chance of being received well.
Similarly, Secret Wars' ending and its soft reboot of the Marvel comic multiverse being so well-received is also crucial to note given just how divisive even soft reboot storylines - that don't fully reset a franchise, but rather allow for details to be adjusted - can be. Both DC and Marvel have faced some considerable flack over the years for the ways they've chosen to refresh some stories, as perhaps most famously was the case with Spider-Man's One More Day storyline, which saw Mephisto erase Peter's marriage and relationship with Mary Jane Watson.
As such, Avengers: Secret Wars and the MCU at large drawing from one of the most successful cases of a soft reboot that managed to refresh Marvel's main universe and multiverse at once makes a lot of sense for the franchise, particularly since we know the MCU's X-Men era is just on the horizon, which would logistically warrant these characters being made fixtures of the MCU's main universe in the way Miles Morales was in the Secret Wars comic.
