Former NBA star Kendrick Perkins believes LeBron James will boost his legacy with a return to a former franchise next season.
The former Los Angeles Lakers talent is in the process of making an important decision regarding his future. However, Perkins seems quite convinced that James is preparing to team up with another All-NBA star for the 2026-27 campaign.

Perkins jumped on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” Wednesday to discuss where LeBron will land this summer. His expectation would put James back with one of his former teams as he begins a new chapter after spending years with the Lakers.
“I would love to see LeBron James and Giannis play alongside one another,” Perkins stated on McAfee’s program. “I don’t know how you would stop that Miami Heat team.”

The current dilemma for James is that the most desirable cities he’s targeting certainly come with caveats. The Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat both feature aging stars, but big names like Steph Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Meanwhile, a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers gives James a potential homecoming. He’d also have the opportunity to play alongside Donovan Mitchell and a cast of lesser-known talents.

The Philadelphia 76ers might actually have the best roster when it comes to luring James next season. However, Philly is likely the least desirable market given James’ interests off the court and the tough winter weather.
Perkins quickly points out though that Miami could build a fortress defensively with the likes of Antetokounmpo, James and Bam Adebayo. The team’s length alone certainly could create a major height and athleticism advantage for Miami.
“I’m not trying to wait two years,” Perkins said regarding James considering the Heat. “I’m trying to get this done now.”

It’s evident that NBA fans and media members are growing tired of the wait surrounding the James sweepstakes. Skip Bayless crushed LeBron on social media this week after claiming that the four-time champion needs to hurry up his decision.

The NBA season returns in October, but James is fully aware of the ramifications of his decision. That’s likely why he and agent Rich Paul continue to drag out the process before announcing a new franchise.
