Josh Duhamel, 53, is remembering the moment that he realized he was “officially too old” for his wife Audra Mari, 32.
On a recent episode of the podcast The HoneyDew With Ryan Sickler the Win a Date With Tad Hamilton star opened up about the 21-year age gap, which just happens to be similar to the difference between him and his younger sister Kassidy.
“Kassidy came along ... and I was playing football at Minot State University. Go Beavers! Warming up on the sideline,” he recalled. “And I remember looking up at the stands, and I see my mom and [she] has this bump. And I’m like, ‘What the— Is my mom pregnant?’ ... I was 21 years old ... and she’s having another baby. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, you gotta be kidding me!’ So, now we love it.”
He then explained how there’s a picture of him when he was 21 years old holding the “little bitty infant” Kassidy. “I looked at the photo, and I looked at my wife, and I said, ‘You know, you and Kassidy are exactly the same age.’”
Laughing, Duhamel added the thought, “Is that a highlight or a lowlight? I’m not sure,” and then said he told Mari, “‘Ooof, I am officially too old for you’ ... They’re literally like months apart in age. I never looked at it like that until I saw that photo. I was like, ‘Wait a second.’”
The Ransom Canyon actor married Mari in 2022 after four years of dating. They welcomed a son in January 2024 and a daughter in May 2026.
“I will say, the age thing doesn’t normally come into conversation, but it definitely does when speaking of having babies,” Mari told Graham Bensinger in 2023. “I really do believe he would have five more kids if he was even 40 right now. It’s probably true. We’ll definitely have a few though. Hopefully, God willing.”
Duhamel also shares a son with his previous wife Stacy Ann Ferguson, 51, better known as the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie. He opened up about their relationship in March on The Skinny Confidential.
“We’re just very different,” Duhamel shared on the podcast. “We just have different views of the world, and that’s okay.” He went on to describe her as being a “great mom” and “very kind, very non-confrontational.”
“We have a good relationship. She and Audra have a great relationship,” the former All My Children star said.
In 2023, Duhamel expanded to Bensinger on his relationship with Fergie, noting that, at the time of their divorce, moving back to his North Dakota hometown was important to him. “We had a great time, but I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests ... The older I get, the more I wanted to come back here, and this is not for her. But I’ve got no hard feelings for it. I truly don’t. I’m very lucky that she’s a kind human. I think we both agree that we’re very different people.”
