Second-year Giants running back Cam Skattebo made the rounds on social media last week once again.
Skattebo was seen on video attempting a backflip, which he failed to land. The video naturally sparked concerns about a new injury for Skattebo, who was limited to just eight games as a rookie after he suffered an open tibia fracture, a dislocated right ankle and a ruptured deltoid ligament in October.
He assured New York fans that he was fine after the viral incident, the circulation of which was prompted by a post inquiring what new coach John Harbaugh would have to say about Skattebo's antics. Now, we have our answer.
Harbaugh addressed the backflip situation during an appearance on the "Bleav in Giants" podcast, joking that if Skattebo is going to try that move, he'd better at least land it.
"Dude, at least stick it. You know what I mean?" he said, per ESPN. "Land the thing if you're gonna do it."
Still, Harbaugh reiterated that Skattebo will be ready to go for the 2026 season. He's made impressive progress in his recovery and joined the team for practice in the spring — though he agreed to not attempt any backflips at that time.
Skattebo's personality made him an NFL darling as a rookie, but his production certainly helped. He ran for 410 yards on 101 attempts in 2025, totaling five touchdowns on the ground. He also had 207 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
He could be in for a big second year under a head coach who likes to run the football, though he may want to keep the backflips to a minimum for the next couple of months.
