The path from Liverpool to Real Madrid is one that is well-trodden at this point, more so than many Reds fans would've hoped for.
In recent years, the Reds have lost plenty of key players to Los Blancos, as the Spanish outfit has loomed large in the background as stars have run down their contracts. The case of Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most notable, with the Liverpool academy graduate trading in all the love and affection held for him in Merseyside for a switch to Real Madrid instead.
That, combined with previous Champions League final encounters, created some animosity between the fanbase and the Spanish giants that hasn't exactly gone away.

Ibrahima Konate is the latest case of a Liverpool star getting poached by Real Madrid. The centre-back appeared close to signing a new contract at Anfield, but ultimately things appeared to fall through late on.
Instead, Florentino Perez was on the scene, pushing in to land the defender as a free agent to kick off his presidential campaign and leaving the Reds scrambling for options once again.
It all plays into the frustrations that Liverpool fans have when it comes to Real Madrid, especially as links continue over a possible transfer for Alexis Mac Allister in the market.
With that in mind, there may be further frustration that Liverpool legend Fabinho has been linked with a switch to the Bernabeu in what would be a return to the club after 13 years.
On that move, former Liverpool star John Arne Riise discussed whether the transfer would be a mistake, and told BestBettingSites: "It’s a hard one because at 32, in that specific defensive midfield role, you need to be able to move your feet incredibly quickly to shut down transitions and stop counter-attacks.
"He's a great player, but to play at the absolute pinnacle for Madrid? Unless Mourinho sees a specific tactical void that he thinks only Fabinho can fill, I struggle to see it happening.
"Real Madrid’s midfield requires a level of energy and dynamic intensity that I’m not sure he can provide at this stage of his career."
It would be a surprising move for Fabinho, who has spent the past three years with Al-Ittihad following his exit from Liverpool back in 2023.

The 32-year-old's legacy may not be impacted by such a move, as it's not a direct transfer to Real Madrid, with his time at Anfield speaking for itself.
Fabinho landed a Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Community Shield in his Liverpool career, landing almost every trophy on offer.
While the peak of his career may be gone now, the Brazilian could offer something to a top club, with Jose Mourinho seemingly eyeing a deal that is 13 years in the making.
