“J-Lau” is back.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight and all-around violence legend Joe Lauzon will make his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) debut against Stash Kuykendall at BKFC 92 on Aug. 29, 2026, from the legendary baseball venue Fenway Park in Lauzon’s hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
The promotion and Lauzon announced the matchup today.
“Absolutely pumped to announce that I’ll be fighting for BKFC at Fenway Park on August 29th,” Lauzon wrote. “Fenway is one of the most iconic venues in the world, and getting to fight there in Boston is something I’m really excited about. This is going to be a crazy night, and I’d love to see a ton of familiar faces there.”
Lauzon, 42, has not competed since 2019, when he absolutely bodied Jonathan Pearce at UFC Boston, stopping him in the first round (watch highlights).
He was booked three different times in 2022 to fight Donald Cerrone; however, that bout was apparently cursed, with both fighters pulling out at different points before the matchup was ultimately scrapped for good.
While Lauzon never officially retired from UFC, he later revealed he was basically semi-retired and would not return unless something “highly intriguing” came along. Since then, “J-Lau” has been coaching full-time at his academy, Lauzon Mixed Martial Arts.
Apparently, bare knuckle fighting at Fenway Park in Boston was intriguing enough, and honestly, that makes sense.
Lauzon is a Massachusetts legend, a longtime fan favorite and one of the most bonus-friendly fighters in UFC history. If BKFC was going to bring him back for one wild combat sports detour, doing it at Fenway Park is about as perfect as it gets.
As for Kuykendall, the 34-year-old will be making his third BKFC appearance.
After putting together a solid regional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, going 6-2 with a 100 percent finish rate from 2012 to 2021, Kuykendall transitioned to bare knuckle in 2025.
Unfortunately, it has not gone well.
Kuykendall is 0-2 in BKFC, with both losses coming by knockout. He most recently returned to MMA last month, but was knocked out in the first round by Jarrod St. Jean.
