Jessie J has announced that she and basketball player Chanan Safir Colman have ended their five-year relationship. She confirmed they remain committed to raising their three-year-old son, Sky, together.
She shared the update on Instagram on July 20 with a family photo of herself, Chanan and Sky. In her message, Jessie wrote, “Chanan and I decided to end our romantic relationship some time ago… we have been focused on navigating the change privately and positively for a healthy and happy co-parenting environment for our son, and ourselves.”
She explained that making the announcement herself was the most effective way to prevent speculation, saying, “Unfortunately being in the public eye this is the easiest way to let people know the truth, before rumors circulate or a false narrative is written.”
Although they are no longer a couple, Jessie emphasized that their relationship as parents remains unchanged. “We will always continue supporting each other with love, respect and care as friends and most importantly being Sky’s Mum and Dad,” she said, asking fans not to misinterpret future family appearances or social media posts featuring them together.
“So if you see us out and about together as a family, or posting each other on socials every now and again. That’s exactly what we are doing. Raising and loving Sky together, supported with a positive friendship,” Jessie concluded.
In May 2025, Jessie candidly discussed the possibility of marriage, explaining that it was not something she and Chanan felt pressured to do. At the time, she told People, “I’m sure we will [get married], but we’re not in any rush. I’ve always said that I’m not too fussed about getting married, and some people get really funny about that, but it’s my own preference.”
She further stated that she hoped to tie the knot when Sky was old enough to “know what’s happening so that he can be really a part of it and enjoy that moment of seeing Mummy and Daddy come together in our love,” adding, “We have a child. I feel like that is the most locked in that we can feel with each other.”
Recently, Jessie shared positive personal news. In May, she announced on Instagram, “Results are in and I am cancer free,” marking one year since her diagnosis. She first disclosed her b***** cancer diagnosis in June 2025 and underwent surgery later that month.
Before dating Chanan, Jessie’s most high-profile relationship was with actor Channing Tatum. They dated on and off for about two years after going public in 2018 and ended their relationship in 2020. She also previously dated Luke James and Max Pham.
