Alex Trebek‘s legacy lives on. The former Jeopardy! host’s wine country house has officially gone up for auction.
The 724-acre estate, known as Windfall Farms, in Paso Robles, California, was owned by Trebek for 37 years, during which he bred and trained race horses, according to Realtor.com. It is also known for its winery and olive groves. Trebek owned the property until the early 2000s.
The California house includes six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. It was built in 1984. The listing, which contains photos of the property, also shares that it contains cathedral ceilings, walk-in closets, a trash compactor, a double oven, a fireplace, an office, a spa, a hot tub, and much more.
Concierge Auctions, which is holding the sale, reported that the house will go to the highest bidder with no minimum bid required. It is currently listed at $33 million. The bidding will go from August 5 to the 15.
The listing shared details of the property, which include “a singular private estate, a destination winery or resort, a legacy vineyard operation, and a curated residential community anchored by 76 approved buildable lots.”
Inside, the house features expansive living and entertainment spaces, which currently serve as a hospitality venue for visitors and management. However, it is set to be transformed into a clubhouse, bed and breakfast, or resort amenity. There are two residences for management as well as a three-bay machine shop on the premises.
Outside of the house, there is a Kentucky-style 6.5-furlong racetrack with room for a professional polo field, which is surrounded by expansive paddocks, four barns — a training barn adjacent to the racetrack, a foaling barn, a stallion breeding barn, and a yearling barn. There are also seven wells spread throughout the property, as well as a creek, nine septic systems, and paved roads.
The current owners — Barry and Donna Goldfarb — transformed it from a winery into a family retreat, according to the New York Post. They have listed the mansion at $33 million, but decided to put it up for auction, so it may sell for a lower price.
Trebek died from Pancreatic cancer in November 2020 after hosting Jeopardy! for decades. He also had a house in Studio City, which he bought in 1991 for $2.15 million. Trebek lived there until his death, according to Robb Report. It was sold in 2022 for $6.45 million. The house was demolished in 2023.
