My closet has become laughable, and the fault lies with Jennifer Lawrence.
No, I’m not being dramatic — the No Hard Feelings star, 35, put me on to track pants a while ago, and now, she’s all but ruined leggings, shorts, and jeans for me. She continually makes them look cool, including last week, when Lawrence was spotted biking around New York City in the cozy, comfy, cool-girl pants style I actually can’t stop wearing. So, yes, I blame her (with gratitude!), as well as Hilary Duff, Oprah Winfrey, and Sarah Jessica Parker, who also sport this trend.
While my former favorite pants no longer compare, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Keep reading to see why and shop similar pairs to start your own collection (proceed with caution!).
Adidas Firebird Loose Track Pants
Wondering why I became obsessed with this trend? I’ll admit, I’m a bit lazy when it comes to getting dressed. I want to put something on quickly, be able to count on it looking nice, and most importantly, never have to touch an iron or steamer in the process. And track pants accomplish all three of these things.
Lawrence’s most recent pair appears to be from Adidas — i.e., the same brand as my go-tos — so I’m taking this as my sign to get another color. I’m a huge fan of the baggy (not oversized) silhouette that looks nice with everything from blazers to T-shirts, as well as the soft, wrinkle-free fabric that never itches. Oh, and another thing: They have zippers down the sides that I can open whenever I feel myself overheating.

If you have a hard time finding pants that fit your tall or small frame, then you’ve won the lottery with these pants. Shoppers praise the straight-leg style, which comes in six different inseams, including short, petite, regular, long, tall, and extra tall. Plus, “They’re thick, they don’t shrink, [and] they look a lot more expensive [than they are],” said one shopper.

While I don’t wear my trackies to exercise, the design lends itself to workouts. For that purpose, you may want something a little stretchier. (Don’t want to split your pants in public, do you?) Luckily, these are made from a nylon-spandex blend with a little more give to them. Additionally, “The waist is totally adjustable,” according to one shopper, so they expand in more ways than one.
